Newest PS4 rumors report that new dev kits are shipping now, based on AMD A10 APUWe all know that the next-generation of consoles for both Microsoft and Sony are right around the corner. We could, conceivably, all be fawning over shiny new consoles in 6-8 months time. Sony as a corporation isn’t having the best of times but are still going forward with the PS4 and seem to have learned some valuable lessons from the PS3.
Expect the PS4 to be much more modest, sporting an AMD processor based on the newly released A10 APU. Somewhere near 4-8GB of RAM with a 256GB HDD. Whether that is a standard HDD or SSD is still be determined. Work on making sure the system is more than able to multitask with a robust OS is apparently taking a precedence in development for the system. It’s all good news for those with hopes that Sony’s next system will come in at an affordable price point but could spell some serious problems for those hoping for backwards compatability with PS3 software. Our guess is that perhaps Sony knows that and their latest purchase of Gaikai is their solution for b/c going forward.
